24k Gold Leaf Booklet (25 Sheets/Transfer Type (Patent)

Have not used the product yet so cannot review. Looks okay .

The ONLY good thing I can say is that the gold is reasonably thick for gold leaf. Which is necessary as you will find yourself trying to pick up the gold itself because it slides right off the "transfer" paper. The packaging is poorly thought out. The book is stapled together. You have to remove the staple in order to attempt lifting out a page. There is no structural integrity in the paper cover or plastic sleeve to protect the gold in transport. Much of my gold leaf was torn or crumpled from sliding out of the book. It is difficult to handle because there is no way to control it. Gold ends up in places you don't intend it to be and it is quite difficult to remove from the areas where you don't want it. I can only hope it will stay as well where I do want it. Needless to say I will not be wasting my money on this gold again. Good luck to you if you are brave enough to give it a go.

Was great to learn about this. Looks fantastic on the handle. Was easy to do but slowly and carefully. Just is a stunning look. Great for making something look fantastic.

If I could give a zero I would. This was terrible. not real gold, floated off the transfer paper and was basically unworkable.Go to the real LA Gold leaf site

The image portrays a square sheet of gold leaf, what I received was a small rectangle sheet of gold leaf.The size is accurate to the written description, at 50x70 mm, but the images are deceptive, so if you're a visual person, adjust your expectations.Unfortunately, the staple holding the sheets of gold leaf stapled through the actual gold leaf so every piece of gold leaf is damaged, due to this staple. Hopefully the distributer can take this feedback and adjust the staple point, to avoid damage to the product in the future.

NOTE: Just wanted to mention that Amazon's product page is incorrect on this item (or at least it was at the time of my purchase and review). The product that I received was NOT "patent" or "transfer" gold leaf, but was instead loose leaf and my review is based on that. It didn't make a difference to me that I received loose leaf, but I wanted to point it out in case it makes a difference to other customers. I've reported the discrepancy to Amazon, so hopefully they'll correct the product page.--------------------------------------Unlike many of the gold leafing products available in stores (Mona Lisa's Metal Leaf comes to mind), this particular product is real 24k gold flattened to an ultra-thin 0.1-0.2 microns thickness rather than just a metal composite with a gold appearance. The other products are less expensive (and usually easier to use) than these sheets, but certain projects just call for authentic gold.These 25 individual sheets are slightly larger than 3-inch square and are each separated by paper. If you've never used it before, you'll quickly discover the reason for the sheet separation once you try to use it.Since each sheet of gold is so extremely thin and delicate, you'll want to mostly handle it by maneuvering it with the paper it rests on and with small tools like tweezers. (And don't breathe on it, or it'll float away!) Trying to handle the sheet with your bare hands is just asking for a mess since it wants to adhere to *anything* that has even the tiniest bit of tackiness. Since there's always the potential for some hand involvement, I usually lightly dust my hands with talc or wear lightweight cotton gloves (don't wear latex or they'll be gilded with 24k!).If you're wanting to cut it into shapes for some reason, it's important to carefully place the sheet of gold leaf between two pieces of paper (I just use any acid-free paper). That gives the piece stability or body that you can actually cut. However, it isn't all that easy to cut and keep the fly-a-way gold "sandwiched" between the paper, so I would only try cutting very simple geometric shapes.Usually, though, rather than cut an actual shape of gold leaf, I apply my adhesive specifically to the area that I want covered and lift sheets or small sections of a sheet to that tacky area to adhere. If the piece that I'm carrying to the adhesive area is fairly large, I usually just carry the leafing on the paper it rests on. That way, I can use the paper to press and burnish the leafing to my intended area without touching it with my hands and adding skin oils -- almost as if this were transfer gold leafing with attached paper. The gold leafing will easily tear or rub off of any areas that don't have the adhesive. If you find it sticking to areas that it shouldn't, you may need to dust those areas with talc.With small designs or lettering made with an adhesive pen or brush, I sometimes find it helpful to add a bit of pigment into my adhesive so that I can tell where I've been and that I haven't missed a spot.With a little planning and as you become more skilled in using the gold leaf, you'll find that you can avoid a lot of waste with the sheets. The initial learning curve can be tough, though.

Advertised dimensions say 3 1/8” x 3 1/8” but what you get is half that size. False advertising!!!!
