Needed to connect hearing appliance and soundbar.
Solved major puzzle for me. Enabled tv sound and sound bar to work together.

Works well.
I bought this to split an optical audio signal from a TV to both a sound bar and an AV receiver.I had originally tried one of the passive optical splitters that can also be found on Amazon, but the light intensity losses were too great with those and I was experiencing dropouts on the AV receiver, which was connected by a 10 ft cable. This device is powered by a USB style power cord. It comes with a power block that plugs into the wall, but I used a USB port on the TV to power the device. It takes in the optical data stream and re-transmits it on 3 separate outputs, eliminating the losses of a passive splitter. The case is metal and it appears to be well built. I used some velcro to attach it to the back of the TV.The device does what it's supposed to and has worked well.

Splitter works great but...
The splitter works great however the included optical cable is completely useless. It would not even plug into the splitter or any device so I had to buy my own.

Easy to set up but sound fades out with two items use
I purchased this so I could split tv sound between two headphones. I have noticed that using one works well. However, when we try using 2 at the same time, the sound is unreliable. Often just turning off and on. Therefore not helpful

Easy to switch between sound bar and wireless ear phones.
Our TV has one optical output. As seniors, our paired wireless headphones help with keeping up to the dialog on some videos, especially when characters speak with lower voices or whispers. For other videos the soundbar works OK, think cartoons for the grandkids or sporting events. We manually switched the TV optical output cable between soundbar or headphones for a while. Now we can make the swithch when grandson watches the same Danial Tiger episode for the umpteenth time. He gets a kick out of the headphones and we get a little quiet.
