Beginner Electric Guitar Lessons: Book with Online Video & Audio

Son thinks he wants to teach himself how to play. I'm all for it.. don't know how much of the book is going to help because there are so many free videos online. But I thought this was a nice book to help learn as well.

This book is great for me, a retiree just starting to play the guitar with no prior experience or even knowing how to read music. Other books assume that you know something but this book doesn't. The videos on the web page helps you to see how to hold the guitar and strum as well as making suggestions on what NOT to do. It starts you off with some basic exercises to help you become dexterous with the guitar. I'm not through the book yet but I have had so many of my questions answered in the first 4 chapters.

Again, it was a present for my son, I send him the beginner's guitar book. Threw him off, he didn't know what was going on. Then I surprised him with the beginner's Guitar, distortion amp, tuner, all the works, it was a massive present. I'm glad he loved it. Worth all the money I spend!

My son will not use the book, he just wants to play the guitar. The book kinda breaks down what a beginner will need to know about playing an electric guitar. You just need to be patient with it.

1. The importance of proper posture and hand position while playing the guitar.2. The importance of proper string tension and guitar setup.3. How to tune the guitar using an electronic tuner or by ear.4. The basic chords and how to play them.5. How to read guitar sheet music and tablature.6. How to play basic strumming patterns.7. How to play melodies and lead lines using single notes.8. How to play basic fingerpicking patterns.9. How to use basic guitar effects such as distortion and reverb.10. How to practice effectively and develop good practice habits.

Great book for beginners. Easy to read and understand.

Book as well written easy to understand lots of wonderful information. I use it almost weekly.

I wanted instruction on both basic guitar skills and also information on the guitar itself including amps etc. This books has given me all this thus far and looking forward to furthering my knowledge, patiently, and also following the easy videos nicely prepared which accompany the book.
