Excellent. Swapped 2-way locking door for a 1-way that was already installed. No new sleeve needed.
I'm reviewing this in case anyone is in this specific situation, so I can save you some frustrating research and extra expense.I had the 1-way locking door, installed with the sleeve insert for a hollow door. I never used the lock. I just used the cat door to allow my cat to come in & out of my bedroom without my having to leave the door open. Then I got a kitten. Turns out, he had ringworm. So I had to keep him separated from the resident cat. The 1-way lock wouldn't work. I needed to keep him in, and her out.My bedroom door is crappy, and the handyman who installed the cat door was crappy (he did a botched job...cut the hole took big, and crooked, and filled the extra space with putty...), so I was so afraid to remove the old cat door and sleeve and install a new one. Will the holes be stripped?... Will the putty fall out and leave gaping holes?... Will my door literally fall apart if I fussed with it.?...I called the company to find out if I could keep the sleeve in place and just swap out the door. Were they compatible? They looked the same. But I couldn't get a satisfactory answer, as they have two different versions of model numbers for the same products. I wasn't sure which model I had. The rep ultimately said no, a swap wouldn't work. He did suggest that I just buy replacement lock clips that will just pop on to the old door. They're only available on their site, though, and shipping would take a while. (So spoiled with fast Amazon Prime shipping!) And I was still afraid that, because of the confusion over model numbers, that the clips wouldn't fit after all.I had to solve this fast. Coz ringworm. So I took a chance and bought this new 2-way locking door WITHOUT the sleeve, hoping the swap would work.It did. Yay! I just re-used the old screws and screw caps with the new door, and I kept the new ones that came with the new door as backups.Whew! So I hope this helps someone in the same situation.

Pet Door Works Great, Maybe TOO Great!
"Spot the Cat" is our Indoor/ Outdoor cat and master of his domain. We recently went on a week long vacation and there was no way anyone could be here often enough to let our monster in and out. So we decided a cat door was the perfect solution. As you can see in my photos, we installed it in a window in the kitchen. And since it is on the windy west side of the house, we built a box out the back with an opening on the side. This design really helps cut down on the wind pressure that might cause drafts.Once in stalled, we absolutely did not let Spot in or out of any other door, but pushed the flap a little and coaxed him out. When he wanted back in at the front door, we went outside and tenderly coaxed him to press his head to the flap and in he went! After just a few days of this he went in and out very well on his own.As I mentioned, with the door on the windy side of the house, there can be some pressure on the flap making it a bit more difficult for him to exit the house, but he has mastered it and it's fine. I think in our case, going the extra mile and building a small box outside the window with a side door helps a lot. This door can be set to only allow entrance, only allow exit, or swing in or out.The opening is edged in brushing that works very well to keep the door from freely blowing in the wind while allowing the cat to push and easily get in or out.Now for the downside. Since installing our Kitty Door, Spot the Cat, who apparently hunts for sport, as showered us with a variety of vermin, some alive, some dead, some in between. My husband and I have cornered and "neutralized" several mice, moles, and I think a small rat, in our house just in the last 2 months. If anyone has any ideas on how to stop the carnage, I'd be happy to hear it.

Awesome/Can get interesting...
We have 4 cats and decided they needed to learn to go in/out by themselves. This door was easy to install, once we managed to cut our way through the metal of the door. It’s secure and looks great from the outside. The inside is not as pretty looking. It would have been nice if the front piece and back piece extended further in to each other cover the gap (foam, insulation) that is now exposed from cutting into door. I included a pic for reference. It doesn’t look bad but would be nice if I didn’t see the inside of the door. This door has a pretty strong magnet and one has to nudge pretty good to get it to swing open. Now for the interesting part of this review. My cats are indoor/outdoor and are avid hunters. This door has been installed for almost 4 weeks and I honestly didn’t think it was being used. I was wrong. I’ve also come to realize that they apparently have been missing out on leaving me “gifts” from their hunting adventures. A few mornings ago I awoke to find some feathers, what looked to be a stomach and two bird legs neatly position on my bedroom floor. Somehow I slept through this meal. Then two nights ago, my cat, Butters, hopped on the bed. I realized then that he was using cat door because I knew I’d let him outside. Anyways, something seemed off when he jumped on the bed. I turned on the lamp and surprise! He had a mouse hanging out of his mouth! Standing on my bed! I did a little praising of his skills and tossed him out. Next morning he strolls in and we hear this crazy sound- he’s now brought a cicada in. Needless to say, this has been an adventure. Lol.Would I recommend the door? Yes. Just be aware that you might start getting “gifts”.
