Works great. Took it out to my recent hotel for a test drive. A bit of a learning curve for the set up (I am somewhat technically adept, with lots of devices already).But after a little, I had it connected to my hotel WiFi with the wireless captive portal no problem, via Ethernet and tethered to my iPhone. Additionally I got my home VPN(s) set up on it, and if I had a third party one it would have been a breeze.Definitely makes it easy to travel as no more setting up everyone’s devices. I look forward to brining it to some all inclusive trips abroad and maybe even on a cruise to see if it works ok.Additionally, in a pinch it would be a band aid failover if my router at home died and I needed to keep things running while I got my main gateway RMA’d.I didn’t have the pervious one, so I can’t comment on its bulk compared to the other iterations, but definitely stout little fellow. The screen is of a little bit of use, but not like amazingly so. Same for WiFi 7, since there is no 6ghz band I don’t care. Plus it’s not like a lot of places offer crazy fast internet speeds in hotels and such.If I had the other variant, I wouldn’t upgrade. However I don’t regret spending more coin if you will on the latest and greatest (for now)

This is a very feature rich router but even more impressive is their technical support. Contacted them about possibility to hide the WiFi QR codes on display in early May and firmware update 4.7.2 at end of May included ability to hide. Can’t think of many tech companies this responsive. Thank you Bernard for timely replies and follow up.This is my travel router and find it small and easy to use. Highly recommend!

Love it for traveling. So much easier than adding a new Wi-Fi to my devices, the wife's devices and the kids devices every time we go someplace new.

The Slate 7 BE3600 router itself is great. The only reason I am leaving a 4 star review, is because the USB C cord that goes from the power brick to the router did not work at all. Luckily I had a spare that worked fine during troubleshooting so I just decided to use it rather than go through the hassle of returning the whole thing. This is the 2nd GL-Inet router I have purchased along with a Flint 2. This thing is great and has everything you could want except 6 GHz. I am actually using this as a 2nd home router (along with the Flint 2) rather than a travel router. It is working perfectly for that function.

This is a really strong portable router that you can take with you on the go. The first thing I will say is that this is a bit heavier than I expected it to be. It is still easy to take with you on the go. I actually took this with me on several trips already and it works great with hardlines for the hotels and such. You are able to get a strong and faster connection that what is provided by the hotel which is nice. I can connect via hardline or wifi through this and I do not require any vpn as this provides me with additional security which is what I wanted. It does require additional power to get this device to work. What I like is that I can plug in my drives and access the drive remotely from my phone while in the hotel as well as make it easier to transfer between devices. The device is relatively easy to setup and straight forward. I like that you have a front panel interaction with this device as well to make it easier to control. Once you have it setup though, it is just plug and play. It does take a little bit of time for the router to connect to the hardline and connect. You do not have to do anything special. It does have a VPN on it to help with protecting you from tracking. The wifi signal produced on this is pretty strong and provides you with a stronger connection that the hotel wifi while not needing to worry about your privacy. The device is pretty compact. It does have two antennas that you can collapse to make this easier to carry. It is still a pretty heavier device than I expect but still something you can take on the go. You could easily put this in your bag. It also does not have to be powered into the wall. You can run it off your power bank. I also like that you can use your phone data and create a wifi signal that way for your devices to use versus using a tether. The default security works pretty well. You can easily access the router and make adjustments how you need it but be aware you need certain hardware to connect to certain wifi signals on this router. Overall this device works great. It is a really strong router and it is easy to connect to. It also provides you with a good security. I also like connecting the hard drive to make it easy to share and transfer files. The transfer is very quick. I also like you can use this with your power bank and do not need to be tied to the wall outlet. You are able to get a stronger, faster, and more secure connection than the hotel router. The one thing I will say is that this device is pretty pricey but I cannot argue with the results.
