Stylish and Indestructible
This is a great watch to wear every day, and you never have to worry about it failing on you. There's a reason Navy SEALS trust this brand. G Shock durability is unmatched, and the solar charging means this watch is more reliable than any other. It never loses the time because it syncs up via radio signals. Sure, the negative display can be hard to read at times (specifically in low light environments), but it has an auto-lightup feature that makes this a non-issue. You can enable this by holding the lightup button for a few seconds, and it will activate when you go to check the time and the watch senses darkness. While it lacks in visibility, it more than makes up for this with style. The negative display gives it a fantastic black-on-black look.

Great G-Shock...but not Japanese Market
I had my eye on this G-Shock for a while now, really liked the all black look, minimal colors on the text, atomic clock, and the negative display. The fact that it was a Japanese market item made it a bit more unique, and the price reflected this. They all came from Japanese sellers for close to $200. I kept coming back trying to decide if I really wanted to spend that much on this watch. Well, one cay, I happened to notice in the "other sellers" section, it was listed at $105 from Amazon directly. Unsure how this could possibly be, I decided to pull the trigger anyway and return it if anything looked suspicious. It was not scheduled to be in-stock until April, but was happy to see an update that it was arriving this week. Got it today and am happy to report that the watch is ALMOST everything as advertised. I'm not going to comment on its features, durability, or day-to day usage as that has already been covered elsewhere. I have no doubt that it will meet all expectations in that regard, and if you are a G-shock fan, you will probably be satisfied. It's clearly a genuine G-Shock, it came with all the Casio packaging materials, manuals, warranty card, and metal hexagon tin. Made in Thailand, not China. The watch itself looks and feels great. The only thing that might give some buyers pause is that it's not the GW-M5610-1BJF (indicating Japanese market), rather it's GW-M5610-1BCR (indicating worldwide market). My suspicion is that Casio recently released this model to be available in the US, which is how Amazon got the ability to sell it directly. It now retails for $140, which is less than you would have paid for a JDM model, but is still more than many similar 5610s.So all in all, I'm happy with the watch. The negative LCD is not that difficult for me to read, in fact, when held at the correct angle, it's extremely legible. The size is perfect, it feels great - light but substantial (if that makes sense). Sure it's not the Japanese version of the watch, but that doesn't matter to me nearly as much to me as it being about half the cost. However, if you really want the BJF model, you probably still need to get it from a 3rd party seller.

Excellent, comfortable, good looking, and easy to read!
First of all, if you are concerned about it, I have never once had an issue seeing the display except in obvious low light situations which the backlight works just fine for.My only complaint about this watch is that the "motion sensor" and light sensor are very unreliable. I activated the "auto backlight" feature which turns on the backlight when you move the watch up to see it, but it constantly lit up every time I moved my wrist anywhere at any angle (EXCEPT when I moved it up to my face!). It drained the battery halfway in a week because it lit up constantly no matter how bright or dark the lights were (it is supposed to light up only when it is dark). But it's not like I work outside at night, and the manual backlight works just fine, so this wasn't a big contention point for me.It charges quickly and keeps its charge just fine. All the rest of the settings work great. The band is very comfortable. I've never had trouble syncing the time, it updates on its own all the time. I shower with it every day and work with water and chemicals a lot, I do a lot of physical work - no scratches, no leaking so far - very sturdy and reliable! Most everything that's good in a watch, and it looks really good on your wrist!
