Never heard of this before, but I thank my naturopath for the introduction!I was a little confused when L-Theanine was recommended as part of my regimen. After all, some internet sleuthing told me it was mainly for help with sleep. And in that arena, I was doing fine: I easily fell asleep, and slept until morning. However, when I read all the other reviews here on Amazon, I found it seemed to be helping people in other areas, including anxiety, OCD behaviors, depression, and even PTSD. Some moms noticed a different in the children's behavior....for the better.With praise like that, I was excited to try it out. My naturopath recommended the dosage of two pills (400 mg total) two hours before bedtime. (It does seem to take a while to work, so that is a good directive.) What I noticed was my sleep, although decent in the past, seemed to be more deep and restful. Be ready for vivid dreams! At least that has been my experience, and it was confirmed by my doctor on my next visit that yes,that is a common experience.This also works for the daytime! As many other reviewers said, it calms without leaving you groggy. I don't have issues with anxiety, but I did notice that when I took one pill (200 mg) in the morning, I was able to stay on task with focus more than usual. Can anyone complain about that???So, what IS L-Theanine, anyway? It's an amino acid in green tea. Supposedly, some researchers delved into why green tea had so many beneficial properties, and they were able to isolate the amino L-Theanine as one of the main contributors. Once isolated, they produced it in a more concentrated amount in pill form.If you are on the fence about this product, I recommend reading all the reviews...L-Theanine seems to be helpful in such variety of areas, I imagine this to be a beneficial supplement for anyone's health.

I feel a difference when I take it. I only need half a capsule and it kicks in within 20 min. or less. It blunts anxiety, but does not eliminate it. I seem to have more emotional distance from the anxiety - which is very good. It seems to increase acuity in the sense of touch (not sure how to say it, for vision it would be 'visual acuity') and perhaps lessens pain. No side effects so far. I have not taken it long enough or often enough to assess long term effects.

This is an outstanding product that I highly recommend it is highly effective. You can still focus on it and the taste is wonderful in the value of money is outstanding too.
