Did the Job, Smells Terrible

There was a skirt I fell in love with at Target, but it had polka dots. I am not a polka dot girlie. But the skirt was polyester, so what could I do? After some research, this was a highly suggested product. It worked great! No more polka dots, just a solid black skirt with a silhouette and ruffle I love.Word of caution: It made my kitchen smell like burning tires. Keep your fan on and a window open. Also, do NOT rinse it out in a bathtub. Use a stainless steel sink or something. It will leave a gray ring in your plastic tub.

JET BLACK POLY DYE (that actually dyes black)🖤

I have been in search for a jet black synthetic dye for months now. I have tried everything under the sun to dye this synthetic velvet piece I’ve had from Rit Dye (in the color graphite), to even attempting to use Sharpie and fabric markers as I was only trying to darken parts of the velvet. I usually use Rit Dye for all my synthetic dyeing, but if you are familiar with it, graphite is their darkest color in synthetic dye. Even when done correctly, this color will always turn out as a dark gray and not JET black. As for the markers… everything just washed out with one single cycle in the wash. I was running out of options until I did a deep dive here on Amazon and on Google for “the best dye for polyester fabric” and I was directed to this dye multiple times. I was worried that it would wash out/ the color intensity would be similar to the Rit Dye and the markers based on a few reviews, but as with everything take them with a grain of salt. That being said, this dye did everything I excepted it to and more. It comes out this gorgeous, jet black AND doesn’t wash out of synthetics the moment you put it through a laundry cycle. It comes in a powder and with a color intensifier. You use the traditional stovetop method with this dye (I suggest following the directions on the back of the packet for the best results). I kept my fabric in for about 35-40 minutes and couldn’t have been happier with the results! This is some of the highest quality synthetic dye I have used next to Rit. As long as you follow the directions and have a bit of patience, you’ll be dyeing beautiful jet black fabric with this dye!🖤🖤🖤

Maybe its user error?

I feel like I followed the directions to the T.. I even purchased a stainless steel pot large enough to fit the small 95% polyester/5% elastane dress I was trying to dye (which was primarily black besides the weirdly spaced out rose pattern I was trying to dye). I read in other reviews that the product smelled 'terrible' and people couldn't wear their clothes after, so I went in fully prepared for battle with a mask, fans blowing, windows open.. and I'd say it was mildly unfavorable. So my advice is maybe just don't put your face right above the pot your using & you should be fine cracking a window or two.It was easy enough to use, but time consuming. I used two packets, followed the directions & at first it looked like it dyed the dress decently, but it stained my dryer after washing it in the washing machine twice by itself. I needed the dress for an engagement shoot, and I'm not fussy so figured I'd just wear it anyways.. which I feel like I should I mention there was a blue-ish tint on my light grey couch after I briefly sat down (nothing a throw blanket can't hide I suppose), but the directions said to hand wash till the water runs clear or throw in the washer, and I did did both twice, so like I said maybe it was user error and I did something wrong? Just be careful and test if the color will transfer to other items you don't care about first! Hope this helps!

did not work

Followed the instructions and did not work. The 2 pants I tried first appeared very black but after washing they are now a dark grey with a greenish tint to them. The pants also have a chemical smell now. These no-wrinkle pants are also now full of wrinkles and the only thing different was this dye that I applied to them. Super disappointed.

Good but charcoal not black

Worked fine. 100% come out charcoal grey and not black on my acrylic/polyester socks. Happy with the results and easy of use however I wished things ended up black which is why I tried this over the RIT synthetic dye.

Does the job on synthetic fabrics - black blacks

Great product. Easy to use and does the job as long as YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY. I don't understand why so many. people have a problem with that. You prewet your garment, dissolve dye in water put the garment in and boil covered for 30-60 min. in a COVERED pot. It does smell, but when you have the lid on it is minimal. Also, it's a dye so you need to be careful not to stain anything else.

Good dye, could be a bit darker

This is incredible! Nearly fully restored my 100% polyester patio furniture. I say nearly because it could be a little darker, which is more obvious when you look underneath (but the important part is the surface so no big deal). I followed the instructions very carefully as others have suggested - pre-wet material, stir constantly for 30 mins to 1 hour - supposedly the longer you go the deeper the color, so I went to 55 minutes before my arms were completely exhausted as I needed it to get really dark. I bought a cheap 12qt stainless steel pot. You do need to be careful of the splash zone since you need it at a rolling boil the whole time, I’ve got a white tiling on my backsplash and didn’t think about it and it was too late to protect - the first splash left a few spots in the grout (the actual glossy tile was easy to wipe off), so be careful.
