Extremely efficient
We knew the lawn had moss as we had suffered so much rain, so we first spread Miracle Gro 4 in 1 which kills moss and weeds and feeds the grass. After waiting a couple of weeks, I started scarifying using a hand rake. It was a huge job as we are fortunate to have a large garden. I filled a whole bin with moss but realised there was a lot more to clear, so to save my back we bought this electric rake. The delivery date was about three weeks but it actually came within a few days. Pretty easy to construct using a cross head screwdriver. The machine is very lightweight which is very useful. The wire could be longer so had to use an extension lead. The moss collector fits easily on the front. Wow, what an amazing bit of kit this is. I suggest starting on the highest setting the first time. I collected a whole bin full of moss and there is obviously more work needed, but I have to wait for the bin collection first. It rakes/scarifies brilliantly. The only downside, as many have mentioned, is the collector fills up very quickly. This is because moss is very lightweight and fluffy so it is difficult to collect a large amount, even if the collector was bigger. It meant emptying the collector every few yards, although I guess that is testament to how effective it is. I intend to use this a few more times until the moss is pretty much gone. Well worth getting to save your back and it was on special offer, so very good value for money.

Good machine and value for money.
Very efficient machine. Easy to assemble and use.I used the lawn rake for the first time today on the middle setting. There was a huge amount of moss and general debris removed from the lawns. My only adverse comment would be is that the collection basket is quite small and, because of the amount of material removed, needed emptying very often.

Works brilliantly
We all think we've got a green lush lawn and then you think I'll just get the moss out of the lawn and yep it turns out you've just got a lawn of moss. This scarifier will drag most of the moss out in one hit but if not just leave for a day and go again , it has 3 height levels so just make sure the lawn is fairly short and start on level 3 and make the way down the levels but what i would say is don't do it on a dry day as you'll kick up a lot of dust and have trouble dragging the moss out of the lawn. The set up is pretty standard really and you shouldn't really struggle with that part of it , the grass box does fill up very quickly though as you'll find out, with it being a bit shallow it doesn't take long to fill and what I've noticed it's a bit long so I've struggled to go right to the end of the lawn without the box then hitting a rose bush etc . You can actually just take it off but you'll then just get moss being thrown out the front like one of those tree shredders, I've only got a small lawn so it's perfect for me but with a big lawn I'd say just be steady and take your time as if you've got a huge lawn it may get a bit warm . I use it only dragging moss out of my lawn so as far as things like picking up acorns I'd say no, picking leaves up I'd say no as the leaves would probably just stick onto the spikes so just use it for taking moss out of the lawn and you'll be fine. It's not classed as an aerator just a scarifier so don't get the two mixed up as it only does the one job but does it well, I've not had too change or replace the coil spikes as yet so can't really comment on replacement parts or the availability of the parts so that would be a question you'd have to ask black and decker or the seller. Me personally when I'm finished I clean it all up and then spray a bit of WD40 onto the spikes and that way they stay clean and rust free , the scarifier can be folded down by undoing the plastic wing nut type of things on both sides so it can be put away in a small shed , but in all it's never let me down and has always got rid of the moss and any dead grass , it won't remove or drag out any good grass or lawn but once you've removed the moss believe me your lawn probably won't look like a lawn as mine was mainly moss so once I'd finished taking the moss out it did look very sad indeed and very bald but it's done it's job and then it's up to you to reseed etc

Performs well!
This performed really well! Assembly was very easy and I managed to rake up about 500 litres (2 wheelie bins) of moss and grass thatch from about 100m² of lawn in the first go. This is more of a rake than a scarifier, so it doesn't cut grooves into the lawn, but this is just what I wanted and is described accurately. The collection basket is small, and because the machine is good at what it does it does fill up very quickly (after about 20 feet of lawn), but because it is open it's really easy to empty and move on.In summary:✅ Easy to assemble✅ Very efficient at removing moss and thatch✅ Easy to empty✅ Lightweight and easy to store✅ Good value at less than £60
