Nursery Rhymes: with a Sing-Along Music CD Hardcover – Touch & Feel, September 5, 2006

A friend of mine had this book and her 18 months daughter was in love with the songs on the CD. I recently bought it and my 5 month old daughter seems to love the pictures (quite nicely done ) in the book. I personally love the songs and the voice on the CD. It's british accent and I grew up in India, with an accent somewhat more familiar than the U.S one, hence to my ears, the voice and the accent is very very pleasant. But even if someone was singing in a chinese accent, I would not mind if it sounded pleasant to the baby. I am surprised there are so many people here who are criticizing the accent (someone went to the extent of saying its worse than nails on a chalk board and I totally disagree with it). My personal opinion (not wishing to impose on others) is that children should be exposed to all languages and accents. Amongst other developments that they would gain from it, it would also make them tolerant as they grow up.I do agree that some of the words in the rhymes are not pleasant like "woman living in a shoe whipping up children". but a lot of old-time songs had strange lyrics and we still loved those rhymes because as kids, we don't fully understand the meaning. I certainly do not know anyone who became a negative person by reading old time rhymes. But then again, thats a parent's personal choice.I do substitute words while singing. For eg: In Baba Black Sheep, - last line,- i usually say" one for my little ......(name of the baby)"My baby loves it and I enjoyed the cd so much that i just bought a second one for a neighbor whose baby is as old as mine.

Love this book and the Sing-Along songs book.. bought them both for the families whose children I watch.. the kids love the motions that I make up to go along w the rhymes and remember them.. Great for babysitters, au pairs, foreign moms & moms & dads who did not grow up learning these rhymes.. they are silly rhymes, but oldies and the kids like hearing them over & over.. I did not listen to the cd's, so I have no idea how good they are.. but I would think they would be great distractions in the car

This book is a favorite of my own granddaughter, so it’s always a pleasure to give it as a newborn gift. When she’s laying on her pallet, I can prop it up close to her , so she can see the pictures, while I read it. The cadence of the classic nursery rhymes, holds her 6 month attention!

This was bought as a gift. I have owned another copy for 6 years and the book and pages have held up wonderfully. The pages have raised texture to them and bright, simple drawings which are very appealing to kids. The cd music can be a bit annoying to adults, especially after many replays in a car, but my children both loved listening and it follows the nursery rhyme words faithfully. A great way to entertain in the car or for some quiet time at home and it teaches kids classic nursery rhymes.

Book came on time and my boy loves it. I bought it used and the quality was exactly as described, slightly used but no marks or rips or anything other than expected wear. I would suggest this book to all parents out there, every child needs a good nursery rhyme book and this one has some nice textures on the pages that my boy loves to feel. Mine does not have the CD (as the seller clearly stated) so I can't comment on it.Highly recommended book and seller!

This book has been a go-to for all three of my kids growing up (boy and girls). I actually bought this book as a "card" for a baby shower for a friend. It's not the sweetest more interesting book, but kids love to hear rhyming words, and some are songs. They love them. My 6 year old still asked to have this read to her, or she reads it to herself.

I gave it to a friend at a baby shower. It is perfect for a young mother who may not know the importance of nursery rhymes. It is probably one of my best purchases in years.

The voice is nice but there is only one voice for all the songs. Some verses are missing, and some illustrations to not match the words. it seems carelessly done.
